Theft At Sportsfield Park

A 57-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman were arrested Oct. 17. after police officers found them near electrical vault, which had been stripped of its wires. Both were arrested on suspicion of grand theft, possession of burglary tools and being under the influence of a controlled substance. They were booked into Fremont Jail.

Minors Connected to Burglaries Caught After Hitting a Lightpole

A 15-year-old Newark teenager was arrested Oct. 19 on Buckeye Place. He was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest and was later linked to a half-dozen burglaries in Fremont, authorities said. A passenger who was with the 15-year-old is also believed to be linked to at least one burglary.

Man Assaulted, But Doesn't Give Cops Details

Police learned that a 22-year-old man was assaulted in the parking lot between and on Newark Boulevard on Oct. 23 after they were called to the 5100 block of Elmwood Ave. around 11:15 p.m. to a report of a disturbance. The victim was uncooperative and refused to say what happened, police said.

Pair Caught Prowling Near Hometown Buffet

Two men, ages 37 and 19, were arrested around 12:30 a.m. Oct. 24 after police found the pair looking into the rear windows of Hometown Buffet, which was not open, police said. The 39-year-old was arrested on suspicion of prowling and being under the influence of a central nervous system stimulant, and the 19-year-old was arrested on suspicion of prowling. Both were booked into Santa Rita Jail.

K-9 Patrol Finds Meth and Illegal Fireworks During Traffic Stop

A 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and illegal fireworks after a K-9 patrol detected the materials during a traffic stop at Enterprise Court around 3:10 a.m. on Oct. 24. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

Man Hits Parked Car, Gets Busted for Possession of Marijuana

A 59-year-old Los Gatos man was arrested on suspicion of possession and transportation of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after officers witnessed the man's car hit a parked car around 6:52 a.m. on Oct. 24. Police found 2 pounds of marijuana, a scale and a large amount of cash while searching his car.

Police Find 9 Pounds of Marijuana After Traffic Stop

A 24-year-old Newark resident was arrested on suspicion of possession and transportation of 2 pounds of marijuana after police conducted a traffic stop at Thornton and Mulberry Street at 8:50 p.m. on Oct. 29. Police later learned the man had 7 more pounds of marijuana, scales and cash at his home. His passenger, a 21-year-od man, was also arrested for possession of more than 2 ounces of marijuana.

Man Escapes After Stealing From A Car

Police are investigating a theft from a car in the 6200 block of Civic Terrace Avenue around 7:45 p.m. Oct. 29. The suspect was last seen running through toward Plummer Avenue. The man is described as a Hispanic adult male between 18 and 20 years of age and is about 5-foot-8 and 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.

Man Arrested For Tagging Bank Of America

A 19-year-old Union City man was arrested on suspicion of tagging a wall on the east side of the parking lot at on the corner of Thornton Avenue and Newark Boulevard. Police arrested the man around 12:05 a.m. on Oct. 30. after they responded to a report of a group of suspicious people in the area.
