Police Log: Purse Snatcher on the Loose, Assault with a Deadly Weapon

Burglary and Theft

— A robbery was reported June 5 by a woman who said her purse was stolen by a man in the Chandini parking lot on Mowry School Road. A detailed description of the man was not available, beyond the fact that he was between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-8 inches tall.

— A burglary was reported on Mowry Avenue on June 4.

— Two burglaries were reported on June 3. One was reported just after 9 a.m on Central Avenue; the other was reported at 1 p.m. at Overlake Place.

— A 25-year-old Fremont man was arrested on suspicion of burglary after police were called to a home in the 5000 block of Chelsea Drive on June 2.

— A woman was cited on suspicion of petty theft at Mall on June 2.

— A burglary was reported on Robertson Avenue at 3:52 p.m. on June 1.

— A burglary was reported on Spruce Street at 6:37 a.m. on May 31.

— Two burglaries were reported on May 30. One was reported at 10:16 a.m. on Jacaranda Drive and the other was reported at 8:15 p.m. on Newark Boulevard.

Assault and Battery

— A report of a battery in progress was reported on Hayley Street at 11:46 a.m. on June 1.

— A report of an assault with a deadly weapon was reported on Mirabeau Drive at 1:21 a.m. on May 30. No further information was available.

— A report of a battery in progress was recorded at Charles Street around 7:30 p.m. on May 30.

Alcohol and Drugs

— A 21-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence on the 39900 block of Balentine Drive on June 5.

— A 57-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication at the Check Center on Thornton Avenue on June 3.

— A 33-year-old man was cited on suspicion of possession of a syringe on June 3.

— A 40-year-old Hayward woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence at 7-11 South on Cedar Boulevard on June 1. She was booked into the Fremont jail.

— Three men, ages 34, 29 and 19, were arrested on suspicion of public intoxication on May 30. The men were arrested at Gubrera’s Pub on Jarvis Avenue and booked at Santa Rita Jail.
