Update: Victim of Fremont Homicide Found With Gunshot To HIs Head

Central Avenue is closed between Dusterberry Way and Joseph Street, near the Fremont DMV office. as authorities continue the homicide investigation, police said

Fremont police are investigating a homicide that left a 20-year-old man dead, police said.

According to a press release, police responded to 4273 Central Ave. just before 11 p.m. Thursday to report of multiple gunshots heard.

Police found the victim unconcious on the driveway with a gunshot wound to his head.

No arrests have been made.

KTVU 2 reported in their morning newscast that police have not ruled out that the homicide could be gang-related.

Authorities have closed off Central Avenue between Dusterberry Way and Joseph Street, which is near the DMV office in Fremont.

Police said the closure will be in effect until approximately 11 a.m. Friday as authorities continue investigating the homicide.

Alternative routes in the area are include Thornton Avenue, Peralta Boulevard and Eggers Drive, Fremont police said.

On Thursday, April 5, 2012, at 2254 hours, Fremont Police Department officers were dispatched to 4273 Central Avenue, between Dusterberry Way and Joseph Street, to investigate the report of several possible gunshots heard and someone on the ground.

Arriving officers located a Fremont resident, an unconscious 20-year old male adult victim, in the driveway with a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was transported to San Jose Regional Medical Center but succumbed to his injuries.

Fremont PD Investigations Unit is currently investigating the case. No suspect description is available.

A traffic closure is still in effect through 9 a.m. hours, on Central Avenue between Dusterberry Way and Joseph Street, while the scene is processed for evidence.
