UPDATE: Police Search for Two Men After Burglary in Lake District

One man has been arrested in connection with a residential burglary on Chelsea Drive.

A Fremont man was arrested after officers responded to a residential burglary that occurred in Newark’s Lake district, according to Sgt. Jonathan Arguello of the Newark Police Department.

Three men forced their way into the home on the 5000 block of Chelsea Drive Thursday afternoon, authorities said. A resident  of the home called the police just before 1:40 p.m. and the suspects fled the scene, one on foot and the other two in a gold-colored Buick Regal, Arguello said in a press release.

The man arrested is Magic Bird Toki, 25, of Fremont. Police are still looking for the other two men, described as Polynesian male adults, and their vehicle.

No one was injured in the incident, police said.

Thursday’s incident comes less than a week after police arrested a 20-year-old man and two minors in the city’s Lake district.

In April, on suspicion of residential burglary in west Newark.

Newark in the past two years. From 2009 to 2010, the number of residential burglaries increased nearly 25 percent, from 159 incidents to 198.
