Plea Delayed in Osana Futi Case

The plea hearing for the man charged with the murder of a Newark student is pushed back to May 23.

The 18-year-old man of a Newark student has yet to enter a plea.

At a Thursday morning court hearing, Abraham Ibrahim Hade of Fremont stood by his attorney, Thomas Knutsen, who requested that the plea entry be delayed to May 23.

Hade is facing one count of murder with a gang enhancement for the stabbing death of Osana Futi, an 18-year-old senior.

Hade is scheduled to return to court for a plea and set hearing at 9 a.m. on May 23 at the Fremont Hall of Justice.

Hade Police say the minors, who were said to be ages 13-16, are facing charges of being accessories to homicide. All four suspects were arrested in connection to Futi’s killing.

Futi was found around 11:20 p.m. April 28 and was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. A viewing for Futi is scheduled for 5 p.m. tonight at Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd. in Fremont.

A memorial service will be held Friday starting at 6 p.m. at the Event Center, 39375 Cedar Blvd. in Newark.
