UPDATE: Pedestrian Killed in Traffic Collision in Fremont Identified

Police are investigating who is at fault for the accident.

Bay City News β€” A woman who was struck by a car and killed while crossing a street in Fremont on Thursday has been identified by the Alameda County coroner's bureau as 53-year-old Maria Villalpando.

Villalpando, a Fremont resident, was struck around 8 a.m. Thursday while crossing Stevenson Boulevard in the crosswalk at Fremont Boulevard, police said.

A car traveling west on Stevenson Boulevard collided with two other cars at Fremont Boulevard before hitting her.

Villalpando was pronounced dead at the scene. No other serious injuries were reported, according to police.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation, police said Friday.
