Osana Futi Murder Suspect's Trial Delayed

A Fremont man is charged with one count of murder in connection to the stabbing death of a Newark Memorial High School student.

The trial of a Fremont man charged with the murder of a Newark Memorial High School senior was delayed when the suspect appeared in court Monday, court officials said.

Abrahim Ibrahim Hade, 19, of Fremont, is charged with one count of murder with a gang enhancement in connection to the stabbing death of Osana Futi, who was 18 at the time of his death.

Hade's trial has been rescheduled for Jan. 22 at the Hayward Hall of Justice, according to Alameda County District Attorney spokeswoman Teresa Drenick.

Hade pleaded not guilty in May and was ordered to stand trial for Futi's death after five days of preliminary examinations held at the Fremont Hall of Justice.

Futi died shortly before 1:30 a.m. April 29 — two hours after he was stabbed following a house party on the 4900 block of Hyde Park Drive, near Yellow Stone Park Drive in Fremont.

Futi was a senior at Newark Memorial High at the time of his murder and was known as a star football player who received MVAL titles, such as Defensive Player of the Year.

Det. Anthony Holguin of the Fremont Police Department said in court during preliminary hearings that Futi died of a stab wound to his upper thigh that measured six inches deep, which severed a major artery.

During those hearings, others witnesses testified that Hade yelled out that Futi "got what he deserved" after the stabbing, that the knife used belonged to the grandfather of a minor arrested in connection to the case and that that Hade texted his girlfriend the next day and said Futi "got what was coming."

Hade – along with three minors – were arrested on April 29. The minors were only described as one 16-year-old girl and two boys, ages 13 and 14, at the time of their arrests. District attorney officials have not been able to comment on updates concerning the minors arrested.

Hade is being held at Santa Rita Jail on no bail.

There's been some construction going on at the north end of Lake Blvd, just before the freewayRead More overpass leading into Ardenwood Park. That's been going on for about the last 7-8 business days.

Today PG&E told me that about 3,000 customers (homes and businesses) in Newark and Fremont wereRead More without power from 7:57 p.m. to about 11 p.m. (I think ours went out a few minutes before that and I'm sure ours came on before 9 p.m. I suppose maybe some of those 3000 folks were out longer as they brought neighborhoods back up gradually, but my guess is that some bureaucrat guessed at the beginning that the outage "should" last 3 hours, and that became historical "fact.") due to a "device failure." (Now that's informative. My guess remains that wind was involved.) They called and left a message on my Comcast voice mail to let me know the power was out and that it should be back on by 11 - but my phones require power so I didn't get the message until this morning. I just called PG&E to change the number they call with such notifications to my cell, but they were able to clarify nothing else. Anyway, in case you were wondering, that is what PG&E now says happened.

I definitely rushed right into the shower when the power went out to avoid the dark! Apparently allRead More the traffic lights were out in the areas you mentioned, as well as the Central/Blacow traffic lights. I wish I knew what happened, I should probably check that out right now. I remember as a teacher buying my own supplies. Looking back I don't regret buying anything andRead More realize that each person's teaching style is different. The things I might buy for my classroom would be totally different than you. Running a classroom is a lot like running a business, there are expenses and you just have to deal with that.

One story I tried to read had an ad covering 1/4 of it, and there was no way to make it go away.

Don't like it at all. "Change" isn't always for the better.
