Osana Futi Murder Suspect's Trial Begins Monday

A Fremont man is charged with one count of murder in connection to the stabbing death of a Newark Memorial High School student.

The trial of a Fremont man charged with the murder of a Newark Memorial High School senior who was fatally stabbed in April is scheduled to begin Monday.

Abrahim Ibrahim Hade, 19, of Fremont, is scheduled to appear at the Hayward Hall of Justice at 8:55 a.m. Monday, according to Alameda County online court records.

Hade faces one count of murder with a gang enhancement in connection to the stabbing death of Osana Futi, who was 18 at the time of his death. Futi died shortly before 1:30 a.m. April 29 — two hours after he was stabbed following a house party on the 4900 block of Hyde Park Drive, near Yellow Stone Park Drive in Fremont.

Futi was a senior at Newark Memorial High at the time of his murder. He was known as a devoted friend and a star football player who has received MVAL titles, such as Defensive Player of the Year.

Det. Anthony Holguin of the Fremont Police Department has said in court that Futi died of a stab wound to his upper thigh that measured six inches deep, which severed a major artery.

Hade pleaded not guilty in May.

Superior Court Judge Kenneth Kingsbury ordered that Hade stand trial in July for Futi’s murder. That decision came after five days of preliminary examinations in which five law enforcement officers, two adult witnesses and one minor witness were questioned by Deputy District Attorney Elgin Lowe and defense attorney Thomas Knutsen.

During those hearings, witnesses testified that Hade yelled out that Futi "got what he deserved" after the stabbing, that the knife used belonged to the grandfather of a minor arrested in connection to the case and that that Hade texted his girlfriend the next day and said Futi "got what was coming."

Hade – along with three minors – were arrested on April 29. The minors were only described as one 16-year-old girl and two boys, ages 13 and 14, at the time of their arrests. District attorney officials have not been able to comment on updates concerning the minors arrested.
