Newark Police are organizing a Citizen Police Academy to give residents a behind-the-scenes look at the police department.
A major goal of creating The Academy is to improve communication between Newark residents and police officers, according to a statement released by the police department.
Citizens can learn about laws that govern the police, immerse themselves in hands-on exercises, and familiarize themselves with firearms. Interested parties must be at least 21 years old and have a clean record to quality for admission into the program.
