Newark Man Arrested on Firearm Charges

Citizen's complaint about argument in parking lot led officers to apartment complex

Police arrested a Newark man late Thursday on suspicion of possessing a loaded and concealed firearm in a residential area.

In a report released today, police said officers were dispatched at 11:26 p.m. to investigate a citizen’s report of two men arguing in a parking lot near Clark Avenue and Cherry Street. The citizen told police that one of the suspects may have had a handgun.

Arriving officers found two men matching the description given by the caller in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 6564 Clark Ave. One of the men, age 21, was arrested on suspicion of possessing a loaded and concealed firearm. He was booked into Fremont City jail.
