Newark Man Arrested After Police Find Explosives and Guns in Home

A Newark man was arrested Friday after two explosive devices were located at an Elm Street home during a probation search, police said today.

Officers initiated the search at a home on the 36900 block of Elm StreetΒ around 2:30 p.m. During the search, two explosive devices were located, and officers evacuated the occupants and neighboring homes.

The Alameda County Explosive Ordnance Disposal Squad responded and rendered the devices harmless, police said. Police also located drugs and ammunition during the search.

Anthony Boyd, a 49-year-old Newark resident, was arrested for on suspicion of multiple charges including possession of explosive devices and drugs.
