Police arrested a bicyclist following a brief pursuit on Thursday
morning in Newark, police said.
At about 10:20 a.m., police saw two bicyclists run a stop sign on
Cherry Street near Mayhew Landing Road.

The fleeing bicyclist, Rudy Soto, 36, of Newark, fled on his bike
and then on foot towards the side yard of a nearby residence, police said.
The officer quickly caught up to Soto as he was attempting to hide
near a side gate.
Police discovered Soto was listed as a wanted person out of
Sonoma County and was found to be in possession of a controlled substance and
Soto was arrested and transported Soto to Fremont Jail, where he
was booked for the listed violations.
