Police Seek Necktie Nabber

The suspected thief stole $100 worth of neckties and punched a security guard.

Newark police are seeking a suspect who robbed a TJ Maxx store and assaulted a security guard over the weekend.

A TJ Maxx loss-prevention officer called police Saturday at 10:54 a.m. after he tried to stop a suspect from shoplifting. The suspect hit the officer in the chest, knocked him to the ground and fled with $100 worth of neckties, according to Newark police. The officer was not injured.

The suspect is described as a white man, 40 to 45 years old, 6 feet tall and weighing 220 to 230 pounds.
