Harrison was driving a Mitsubishi Eclipse with a passenger on Central Avenue when he lost control and veered into the opposite side of the road and collided with big rig traveling westbound on Nov. 2, Douglas said.

The Mitsibushi hit the big rig sideways, with the passenger side being impacted by the front of the truck, said Sgt. Mike Carroll of the Newark Police Department.

Officers arrived on scene around 2:10 p.m. to find Harrison and his passenger trapped inside the two-door Mitsubishi Eclipse, said Commander Robert Douglas in a press release.

Harrison was transported to a hospital by helicopter, where he was later pronounced dead, police said, while his passenger was transferred to Mt. Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley by ambulance.

The condition of that passenger is unknown, but is said to be a 23-year-old Fremont resident, Carroll said. The driver of the big rig did not suffer any injuries, police said.

Douglas said police believe alcohol was a factor in the collision.

Family and friends have sent messages to Newark Patch about how Harrison was a great friend. His wife, Nina Teu-Harrison, described him as "a phenomenal man who touched so many lives."

A funeral service for Harrison will be held on Monday, Nov. 15. Anyone wanting to send flowers, cards or condolences can send them to 224 Azalia St., East Palo Alto CA 94303 650-400-4513 nina.teu@gmail.com or cana.harrison@gmail.com.
