A Newark man will appear in Alameda County Superior Court today to possibly enter a plea to charges that he committed sex crimes on a patient at a nursing facility in Fremont.
The Alameda County District Attorney's Office has charged Bruce Michael Goulart, 57, with 17 felony counts of committing a lewd act on a dependent adult while being a caregiver. Goulart is accused of committing the crimes each week between April 1 and Aug. 23, according to prosecutors. Goulart, who is being held at the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin in lieu of $500,000 bail, is scheduled to appear in Department 605 at the Fremont Hall of Justice at 9 a.m. today.
