Gang-Related Shooting; Two-Vehicle Crash Near I-880

Violence
Officers arrested two teen suspects in a gang-related shooting that left a 14-year-old boy suffering gunshot wounds March 17. Newark officers and the South Alameda County Major Crimes Task Force identified, located and arrested a 17-year-old shooting suspect March 18. On March 19, Sgt. Mike Carroll said, Newark and Union City SWAT teams found a stash of firearms and ammunition at the Burning Tree Drive home of a 17-year-old boy who may have been behind the wheel of the getaway car.

Officers responded to a fight involving several people at the condo complex across the street from the Newark police station on the night of March 20. The police activity log shows a 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being intoxicated in public.
Burglary

Officers investigated a residential burglary on Par Court March 15. The police report shows someone entered the home through the side garage door and that the items stolen included a Playstation 3, an Xbox and a laptop computer.
Theft
Officers arrested a 32-year-old man in connection with a shoplifting incident at March 16. Later, officers arrested an 18-year-old woman on suspicion of shoplifting at
Other Incidents
On March 15, officers responded to a two-vehicle collision on Stevenson Boulevard, next to the freeway exit for Interstate 880. Officers said one of the cars slid into a ditch next to the Newark Hilton. The accident scene prompted crews to block off one lane of traffic as tow trucks moved the vehicles out of the way. Officers say the drivers suffered minor injuries.
