Police Find Marijuana Grow in Backyard and Meth for Sale

A 32-year-old Newark man was arrested from his home on Graham Avenue after police did a probation search around 2 p.m. Sunday and found several marijuana plants in his backyard and meth for sale. The man was arrested on suspicion of possession of meth for sale and booked into Santa Rita Jail.

Suspected Car Thief Drives on Wrong Side of the Road

A 47-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, resisting arrest, possession of burglary tools, possession of a stolen vehicle out of Oakland and hit-and-run around 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Authorities said an officer first spotted the man driving on the wrong side of the road on Newark Boulevard and then onto Thornton Avenue. The motorist then took a few more turns and then crashed the car into an island on Ruschin Drive and led police on a foot chase. The man was caught, arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail.

CraigsList Armed Robbery

Police responded to near around 11 p.m. Thursday after a report was called in that a victim was robbed of a cell phone at gunpoint. Authorities said the victim and suspect had a meeting in the parking lot through CraigsList.

Homeless Man Caught With Meth and Scale

A 36-year-old man was arrested after police stopped him on Amador Place around 9:50 p.m. Wednesday and an officer and K-9 team did a drug sniff on the car and found 7.3 grams of meth once the drug-sniffing dog indicated. A scale and pipe were also found. The man, who is listed as a transient, was arrested on suspicion of transportation of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia and was booked into Fremont Jail.

Rollover Car Crash Hospitalizes One

A motorist was hospitalized after a solo rollover vehicle crash on Cedar Boulevard near Musick Avenue around 2 p.m. Thursday. Authorities said the vehicle hit the road’s center median, rolled over and turned onto its roof on northbound Cedar Boulevard. The vehicle’s sole occupant was transported to a hospital but the injuries of that individual were unknown and not released.

Cupcake Shop Burglarized

was found burglarized Tuesday morning. Police were detailed to the bakery at 5849 Jarvis Ave. just before 5 a.m. May 29 because of a burglary alarm and found that someone entered the business through a hole in the wall adjacent to a vacant business that was once Cartridge World. Police said it looks as if the suspect(s) appeared to be trying to burglarize multiple businesses by tunneling through. No suspect description was available.

Burglary and Theft

A 30-year-old man and 29-year-old woman, both of Oakland, were arrested on suspicion of petty theft out of ’s store just before 8 p.m. Saturday.

A car parked on the 39100 block of Levi St. was found burglarized with its passenger window smashed around 7 a.m. Wednesday. Police said it appears someone tried to steal the car’s stereo.

A pair of cars parked at the at 39900 Balentine Drive was burglarized after suspect(s) smashed windows between 5 a.m. and 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 29.

A home on Magnolia Street was burglarized through a broken rear sliding door between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. Monday, May 28.

Drugs and Alcohol

A 48-year-old Fremont man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after the motorist crashed into a concrete median at Thornton Avenue near Olive Street around 2:25 a.m. Sunday. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

A 48-year-old Newark man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public after officers were called to to a report of man lying on the ground and refusing to leave around 11:45 p.m. Saturday. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

A 63-year-old Newark man was determined to be too drunk to care for himself inside of the Newark Square plaza around 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication and booked into Fremont Jail.

A 46-year-old Newark man was arrested and cited at Dalewood Drive on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol after a person spotted the motorist near around 7:40 p.m. Monday, May 28.

Miscellaneous

A construction site on the 35000 block of Newark Blvd. was found vandalized with damaged windows, walls and doors around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 29

Traffic Accidents

A 22-year-old Fremont woman was arrested on suspicion of possession of burglary tools and theft and unlawful taking of a vehicle and a 26-year-old Oakland man was arrested on suspicion of possession of meth at the E-Z 8 Motel just before 10 p.m. Saturday.

A 22-year-old man was arrested and cited on suspicion of driving on a suspended license after police responded to the parking lot of Safeway around 7:15 p.m. Saturday to a report of a hit-and-run car accident and authorities traced the man’s vehicle to his home in Fremont.
