Man "Aggressively Disciplining" Child Leads To Arrest

A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of inhuman corporal punishment after officers received several 911 calls of a man aggressively disciplining a child around 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the 7-11 West on Thornton Avenue at Sycamore Street. The child was released to her grandmother and the man was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

A 15-year-old boy who did not come home from school Friday night was safely located in Emeryville on Sunday, police said. The teenager is said to have left on his own and no foul play was involved, according to police. to read the full report.

100 Pairs of Sunglasses Stolen

Police responded to Delta Optical, 35149 Newark Blvd, just before 12:30 a.m. Thursday to find the store’s front window broken and 100 pairs of sunglasses stolen. Authorities conducted a search but could not find the suspects.

Drunken Driving Causes Multiple-Car Crash

A 55-year-old Fremont woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol after officers responded to a three-vehicle accident on Mowry Avenue at Alpenrose Court near Swiss Bar around 7:20 p.m. on Tuesday. The woman was booked into Santa Rita Jail and the occupants of the other vehicles were not injured.

Assault and Battery

Police arrested a 33-year-old Newark man on suspicion of domestic battery and terror threats after officers responded to the 35700 block of Bettencourt Street to a report of a disturbance around noon on Sunday. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

Burglary and Theft

A 21-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of petty theft from at around 8:45 p.m. Thursday.

A 35-year-old woman was arrested and cited on suspicion of theft at inside around 6 p.m. Wednesday.

A 23-year-old homeless woman was arrested on suspicion of driving without a license, possession of burglary tools and possession of stolen property around 2:30 p.m. Monday. Police said that she was seen committing a burglary in the parking lot of and was booked into Fremont Jail.

Drugs and Alcohol

A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a central nervous system stimulant around 11:30 p.m. Thursday on Mulberry Street at Dairy Avenue. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

K-9 Officer Britain Jackman responded to at to a report of a 29-year-old man stealing from the store around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Security did not want to press charges, but the officer arrested and cited the man for being under the influence of a central nervous system stimulant. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

A 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public around 6:45 p.m. Wednesday after police responded to the 39800 block of Cedar Boulevard to a report of a disturbance. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

Miscellaneous

Police stopped a 49-year-old parolee around 8 p.m. Thursday on the 7800 block of Wells Avenue to conduct a probation search. Officers found brass knuckles and throwing stars at the parolee’s home and arrested him on suspicion of possession of dangerous weapons and possession of a hypodermic syringe. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

Traffic Incidents

Police responded to a vehicle accident in which a pedestrian suffered minor injuries at the boathouse on Chelsea Avenue around 3 p.m. on Sunday.
