Fight Breaks Out During Wedding

Police were called to Chandni Restaurant around 11:55 p.m. Sunday after it was reported that a large fight had begun at a wedding reception after a turban was knocked of an elderly man’s head. The notion, police said, is often taken as a sign of disrespect. Two men were found with cuts, bumps and bruises. Police said the two men were assaulted by an unknown number of people, but one 44-year-old man from Canada was arrested on suspicion of battery after the two victims identified him.

Man Fights to "Defend" Girlfriend, Girlfriend Gets Arrested for DUI

Police responded to just before 2 a.m. Sunday after it was reported that a large fight had ensued. Officers said they learned three men were fighting after two men thought another man had offended one of the men’s girlfriends. The pair of men began punching, kicking and stomping the man and he was found unconscious, police said. While the fighting happened, the woman got into her car but ended up hitting a taxi. The 25-year-old woman who is from San Francisco, was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.

Man Caught With 8-Foot Metal Piece From Building

A 28-year-old Newark man was arrested around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday after police found him at the former GMC car dealership parking lot carrying an 8-foot-long metal siding from the business. Police said the man said he was stealing the scrap in order to sell it and officers found he was in possession of bolt cutters, a volt meter and pull cables. He was arrested on suspicion of theft, possession of burglary tools and prowling. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

Meth Lab Found on Bonnie Street

Newark police said a inside an add-on to a home on Bonnie Street on Tuesday. Authories responded to a home on the 36600 block of Bonnie Street around 3 p.m. Tuesday to serve a search warrant, at which time Alameda County Sheriff's Office Drug Task Force detectives found the meth lab and seized about 13 pounds of meth, police said. The meth lab was dismantled. It is unclear whether any arrests were made.

Dumpster Dive Leads to Arrest

A 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault on a police officer, being under the influence of a drug and resisting arrest after he tried to escape a police officer when he was seen dumpster diving just before 5 p.m. Monday. Police said the Newark man was spotted in the alleyway of the Raley’s Shopping Center and did not follow instructions from a police officer and ran off. The man was found in front of Little Caesar’s Pizza in the Lido Faire Shopping Center. He was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail.

Assault and Battery

A 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of corporal injury to a spouse or co-inhabitant after police investigated a report of a domestic violence incident from a home on Spruce Street around 9:45 a.m. Monday. The man was booked into Fremont Jail.

Burglary and Theft

Police found a stolen tractor on Enterprise Drive around 4:42 p.m. Sunday.

A 34-year-old Newark man was arrested around 8:45 a.m. Friday after someone reported a bike theft in progress at La Huasteca restaurant on Thornton Avenue and followed the man to Willow Street and Enterprise Avenue. The man was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail.

A classroom at was morning, police said. Police are investigating the burglary of the classroom, which resulted in the loss of a projector and camera system was stolen, which totals approximately $400.

A home burglary on the 7900 block of Wells Avenue was reported around 8:20 p.m. Wednesday. Police said the home was entered through an unlocked back door and that jewelry was taken from the residence.

A 22-year-old Oakland woman was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting from JC Penney at NewPark Mall around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday.

A 1997 maroon Nissan Altima was reported stolen from a home on Idlewild Court around 9:40 a.m. Wednesday. The reporting party said the car was taken about 2-3 weeks earlier. The license is 4UZG385.

A 1998 green, four-door Saturn was reported stolen from the 36200 block of Worthing Drive around 7 a.m. Wednesday. License plate is 3XNE046.

Drugs and Alcohol

A 71-year-old Hayward man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving on Cherry Street around 10:40 p.m. Saturday.

A 36-year-old woman and 32-year-old man were arrested on Sunset Avenue around 4 p.m. Friday after police found the man in possession of a syringe and the woman had a no-cite warrant. The man was cited and the woman was booked into Fremont Jail.

A 49-year-old Newark man was arrested on suspicion of possession of dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia around 7 a.m. Thursday on Yew Court. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia around 1:55 p.m. Monday on the 7300 block of Thornton Avenue and was booked into Fremont Jail.

Traffic Incidents

A hit-and-run occurred at Farnham and Edgewater drives around 3:15 p.m. Friday. No suspect vehicle description was available.

Miscellaneous

A 61-year-old Fremont man was cited just before 10 a.m. Saturday for misuse of a dealer plate after police officers noticed that the plate was “displayed improperly and without proper documentation” while it was being test driven. Police located the business owner after finding out the car was from used car dealership, Auto Land, on Cedar Boulevard.

A person reported seeing a gun in the bushes in front of a home on the 6300 block of Lafayette Avenue around 11 a.m. Friday. Police found the weapon, which turned out to be a BB gun and seized it.

A car on the 6200 block of Joaquin Murieta Avenue was found vandalized around 11:20 a.m. Wednesday. Police said the hood of the car appeared to be scratched purposely.
