Duo Steals Car, Leaves It Half a Mile Away, Then Steals Another Car

Police are searching for man and woman after a vehicle was stolen from Crystal Springs Drive around 6:26 a.m. on Dec. 24. Police said while investigating, they found the car had been left near Firestone Place. Police said a woman who was driving a white vehicle had dropped the man off next to the car that was stolen, which was left unlocked and running with the key in the ignition. Police said around 6:45 p.m. the same suspects stole a vehicle that was left unlocked and running with the key in the ignition from Mirabeau Drive. Police later recovered the vehicle around 6 p.m. on Dec. 25. The investigation is ongoing.

Man Arrested After Brandishing Weapon During Burglary

A 60-year-old Newark man was arrested after police responded to to a report of a disturbance around 6:18 p.m. on Dec. 23. Police said security officials attempted to arrest the man, but he resisted. The man was eventually arrested on suspicion of brandishing a weapon, possession of a switchblade knife and burglary. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

Woman Linked to Stockton Burglary Arrested

Police completed the arrest of a 35-year-old Fremont woman after security arrested her on suspicion of theft at the home improvement store around 9:27 p.m. on Dec. 23. During a search, police said they found stolen checks from a Stockton burglary and methamphetamine. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

Teenager Steals Bicycle From Neighbor

A 17-year old was arrested after police responded to Bayonne Drive around 8:27 p.m. on Dec. 21 to investigate a burglary that occurred on Dec. 19. After reviewing the home owner’s video surveillance system, officers said they learned the 17-year-old, who is the homeowner’s neighbor, had stolen a bicycle out of the garage. After being confronted, the minor admitted to taking the property and returned it. He was arrested and released to his parents.

Home Burglarized After Woman Tries To Sell Cleaning Products

Police are searching for a pair of suspects after a home on Cypress Point Drive was burglarized around 7:35 p.m. on Dec. 21. Witnesses said a suspicious woman had tried selling cleaning products door-to-door about 30 minutes before the burglary, in which a computer was taken. Police issued a warning to Newark residents. for the full report.

Elderly Woman Wounded in Domestic Dispute

A 75-year-old woman suffered a bite wound to her finger during a domestic violence incident with her husband that Newark police responded to around 7:10 p.m. on Dec. 20. Police said the suspect, a 75-year-old man, had not been taking his medication and he was placed on a "5150 psychiatric" hold.

Men Arrested While Trying To Find Metal

Two Oakland men were arrested after police said the pair was attempting to hunt for metal at the dead end of Mowry Avenue around 9:45 p.m. on Dec. 22. One man, age 26, was wanted for a felony warrant and was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail. The other man, 33, was arrested and cited on suspicion of driving with a suspended license.

Alcohol and Drugs

A 25-year-old Livermore man was arrested and cited on suspicion of driving under the influence around 5:54 a.m. on Dec. 24 after police officers responded to a stalled vehicle on Jarvis Avenue and found him hiding near Gateway Boulevard.

A 55-year-old transient man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public after he was found intoxicated in front of a 7-11 store just after midnight on Dec. 24. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

A 50-year-old Newark man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence around 9:07 p.m. on Mayhews Landing Road on Dec. 22.

A 23-year-old Auburn man was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance after police responded to the Hilton Newark Hotel around 2:55 a.m. on Dec. 22 to a report of a man causing a disturbance. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

A 21-year-old Newark man was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine around 4:53 a.m. on Dec. 21 during a pedestrian stop on Willow Street.

A 48-year-old Newark man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public after police responded to the to a report of a man down in front of the store around 6 p.m. on Dec. 20. The man was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

A 47-year-old Newark man was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a central nervous system stimulant around 10:47 p.m. near Sycamore Street and the train tracks. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

Newark police arrested a 51-year-old man on suspicion of driving under the influence after they learned he had stopped in the drive-thru at off Jarvis Avenue around 8:53 p.m. on Dec. 19.

Burglary and Theft

A 27-year-old Oakland woman was arrested on suspicion of petty theft after police completed a citizen’s arrest around 11:47 p.m. on Dec. 22 at in .

A home was burglarized between 6:15 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. on Joaquin Murieta Drive on Dec. 22 in which electronics and jewelry was taken. While investigating, police said they found some jewelry the suspect dropped while fleeing the scene.

Three Richmond woman, ages 28, 22 and 22, were arrested on suspicion of petty theft at at NewPark Mall around 8:15 p.m. on Dec. 21.

An 18-year-old Fremont man was arrested on suspicion of petty theft at at NewPark Mall around 8:15 p.m. on Dec. 21.

A 26-year-old San Francisco woman was arrested and cited on suspicion of shoplifting at around 9:46 p.m. on Dec. 19.

The things I might buy for my classroom would be totally different than you. Running a classroom is a lot like running a business, there are expenses and you just have to deal with that.
