Man Suffers from Head Injury Near Local Bar

A man was found suffering from a head injury outside of around 1:45 a.m. Sunday and was transported to Eden Medical Center. Police began the investigation, but witnesses were not cooperating and were seemingly too intoxicated, police said. Police are continuing to follow up with the investigation.

Minor Shoves Officer, Flees But Gets Caught With Ecstasy

Officers were investigating a report of drug use on Joaquin Murrieta Avenue around 2 p.m. Friday and found a group of minors, one of whom confessed having marijuana in his possession. After handing it over, the minor shoved one officer and fled. He was quickly captured and police found a baggie full of several ecstasy pills near him. The minor was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, battery on a police officer and resisting arrest. He was booked into Juvenile Hall.

Strong Arm Robbery at BJ’s Restaurant

Police officers from the Newark and Fremont police departments investigated a strong-arm robbery that occurred in the parking lot of  late Thursday night. Police set up a perimeter, but no suspects were found. No injuries were reported and no suspect description has been released. for more details.

Man Flees From Cops, Found in Front Yard

A 32-year-old Newark man was arrested after police conducted a lengthy search for him that stemmed from a felony hit-and-run investigation follow-up on the 6700 block of Cedar Boulevard just before 9 p.m. on Thursday. Police established a perimeter and eventually found the man hiding in a front yard on Cedar Boulevard. He was arrested on suspicion of his felony warrant and delaying/resisting arrest.

Men Kick Down Door, Get Busted for Burglary

Two men were arrested after police were notified that a pair of suspects was seen kicking in the door of a home Wednesday afternoon, police said. Police set up a perimeter around the home on the 35900 block of Dalewood Drive and the men – a 26-year-old Newark resident and a 19-year-old Modesto resident – were arrested without incident as they were leaving the home, according to the . Police are investigating on whether the pair of men is connected to a burglary that occurred earlier that day on Dichondra Place. for more information.

Homeless Man Grabs Child’s Leg

A homeless man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after it was reported that a man had grabbed a child’s leg at the asking for money around 3:45 p.m. The man, who is listed to have been from Rio Vista, was arrested on suspicion of annoying or molesting a child under the age of 18. Suspects Burglarize Home While Resident Sleeps Inside

Police are searching for burglary suspects who broke into a home Monday afternoon, while a resident was inside of the home on the 37200 block of Oak Street. The resident woke up around 1:30 p.m. and found the suspects were leaving, police said. to read the full report that includes the suspects’ description.

Burglary and Theft

A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of petty theft with a prior conviction from around 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

A 48-year-old Oakland woman was arrested and cited on suspicion of petty theft at TJ Maxx around 3:30 pm. Saturday.

A 36-year-old Oakland man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and forgery out of on Newark Boulevard around 2:40 p.m. on Thursday. He was booked into Fremont City Jail.

A 56-year-old San Jose woman was arrested on suspicion of petty theft from just before 7 p.m. on Wednesday. She was given a citation and released.

Drugs and Alcohol

A 19-year-old Newark man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol just before 11 p.m. Sunday.

A 38-year-old Newark man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after an officer responded to a report of a car hitting two parked vehicles on Bellflower Drive just before 3 a.m. Sunday. 

A 53-year-old Newark man was arrested on suspicion of public drunkenness around 8:30 p.m. Saturday after police responded to on Mowry Avenue to a report of a man harassing customers.

A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and an active no bail warrant when he was stopped near Redeker Street just after 9 p.m. on Friday.

A 19-year-old Newark man was arrested after police responded to Newark Boulevard and Mayhews Landing Road around 10:15 p.m. Thursday to a report of two drunk people causing a disturbance. The man was arrested on suspicion of public drunkenness and was booked into Fremont City Jail.

A 43-year-old Rio Linda man was arrested on suspicion of public drunkenness when officers responded behind Newark Square to a report of a man down around 10:15 a.m. Thursday. The man was booked into Santa Rita Jail. 

Sex Crime

Officers are investigating a sex crime that involves a 14-year-old female victim. Police noted the suspect's relation to the victim is known, but the identity of the suspect has not been confirmed and the investigation is ongoing. No further details were available as of Monday afternoon. 

Traffic Incidents

Officers responded to Ring Road at the just before 11 p.m. Wednesday after it was reported that a car had hit a tree. No injuries were reported, but the driver admitted she was texting while driving.

Officers responded to a report of a car crash that involved a pedestrian around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Newark Boulevard and Mayhews Landing Road. It was determined that the accident was a solo-bicycle accident and the person suffered minor injuries.

Police investigated a car collision near 36614 Newark Blvd. around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Minor injuries were reported.
