Pot and pills at Newark high school, and more incidents May 19 to 25.

SATURDAY, MAY 25

  • Robbery at Lake Elizabeth. A robbery victim was located at Kaiser Permanente emergency room, who told police that at 7 a.m. he was at Lake Elizabeth and attacked from behind and punched in the face four or five times. The suspect took the man's wallet, which was recovered nearby, and fled in an unknown direction. The suspect's description was a Hispanic male in his late teens, 6 feet tall, 160 to 175 pounds, wearing a green T-shirt and tan shorts.
  • Domestic violence and DUI arrest. An intoxicated Newark man, 30, was arrested at 7:42 p.m. after a domestic violence incident on Braidburn Avenue, where he reportedly battered his pregnant wife and stole her vehicle in an attempt to flee the scene. An officer nabbed him at a traffic stop, and he was booked on suspicion of DUI, felony domestic violence and auto theft.
FRIDAY, MAY 24

THURSDAY, MAY 23
  • Booze sold to minors. Three minors were cited for possession and purchase, along with a female clerk for the sales, of alcohol to underage customers at Central Food and Liquor.
  • "YEP?" Officers were called around noontime to McDonald Avenue and Ruschin Drive for a suspicious woman claiming she worked for PG&E. Police answered prior calls regarding a similar person knocking on doors in areas of recent residential burglaries. An officer located the female who said she is actually a sales rep for “YEP,” a new company selling utilities to area residents.

MONDAY, MAY 20
  • Man arrested for stealing bro's car. A white Toyota Camry reported stolen in Tracy was located at 11:15 a.m. in front of a home on Orleans Drive, which probably did not surprise the Tracy victim, who suspected the theft suspect was his brother. The victim confirmed from his aunt, who lived at the house, that his brother was, in fact, there. The aunt asked the suspect to leave the home, and as he approached the stolen Toyota with car keys in hand, he was arrested for suspected vehicle theft.
  • Man vandalizes Burger King after his expletive-laden order denied. Full story here.

SUNDAY, MAY 19
  • Brothers cause restaurant ruckus. Newark brothers caused a disturbance at 8:30 p.m. at the La Cabana Restaurant over cash reportedly missing from the register and possible fraudulent credit card use. One of the men, a 29-year-old, was arrested at the scene, and while fighting with officers elbowed one cop in the face. Battery of an officer was added to his charges.
