Man Arrested After Six Years on the Run

A 51-year-old man from Washington who has been on the run for about six years and had five felony warrants, two misdemeanor warrants and is a parolee-at-large was arrested around 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Police officers found him in the parking lot of the while conducting a warrant service, arrested him without incident and booked him into Santa Rita Jail.

Family Finds Bones in Back Yard

Police said officers responded to a home on Calais Place at 10:42 a.m. Saturday and learned the family had found numerous bones while they were digging in their yard. According to a Newark police statement, the bones were confirmed by the Alameda County Coroner's Office to be human remains. that possibly belonged to natives of the Ohlone tribe. for more details.

Woman Arrested After Parking Stolen Vehicle in Handicap Zone

A 30-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle and felony warrants after police saw a vehicle that had previously been reported stolen parked in in a handicap spot at the Newark Square Shopping Center. for the full report.

Woman Drunkenly Hits, Threatens Family

A 46-year-old woman was arrested around 7:30 p.m. April 25 after an officer responded to her home and found that she was “extremely intoxicated” and hitting family members, police said. Police arrested her on suspicion of domestic battery and criminal threats after she threatened “harm to family members upon her release,” authorities said, and was booked into Fremont City Jail.

Man Places Son Under Citizen’s Arrest

A man called Newark police to report that his 23-year-old son was vandalizing his home by throwing items outside of residence on Moores Avenue around 6:40 p.m. on April 25 and had just left. The man put his son under citizen’s arrest when he returned and officers accepted the arrest of the 23-year-old and booked him into Santa Rita Jail.

Man Loses Control of Car, Tire Flies into Yard

A 54-year-old man was arrested on April 24 on suspicion of drunken driving after he lost control of his vehicle as a result of hitting two parked cars on Cedar Boulevard, police said. Police said they responded to the collision on Cedar Boulevard near Dupont Avenue and learned the man had been driving at high speeds on southbound Cedar Boulevard and ended up hitting two parked cars around 7:30 p.m. for more information.

Man Fights Home Depot Employee

A 47-year-old Hayward man was arrested on suspicion of petty theft, battery and a misdemeanor warrant after officers responded to just before 8 p.m. April 23 and found the man arguing with a loss prevention officer while trying to make a citizen’s arrest. The man was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

Assault and Battery

A 50-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of battery at the Lyon Center on Mowry Avenue at Cedar Boulevard and booked into Fremont Jail around 7:55 p.m. Friday.

Burglary and Theft

A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of battery and an outstanding warrant after officers responded to a report of a disturbance on the 37400 block of Cherry Street around 10:50 p.m. Friday. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

Two people, ages 46 and 18, were arrested on suspicion of petty theft at around 8:30 p.m. The pair was cited and released.

Play Station and Wii game consoles were reported stolen from a home on Hafner Street around 7:20 p.m. Friday.

A handgun, cash and jewelry were reported stolen outside of a home on Colbert Place in Newark around 3 p.m. Thursday.

A 49-year-old man was arrested and cited on suspicion of theft of $30 from Home Depot around 4:40 p.m. on April April 25.

Police investigated a report of a burglary out of a GMC Yukon in front of around 4:40 p.m. on April 25. Police said it looked like the suspect(s) had tried to take the GPS unit from the car.

An 87-year-old East Palo Alto man was arrested and cited on suspicion of petty theft from Home Depot around 6 p.m. on April 24.

A wallet was reported stolen out of an unlocked car at the Courtyard Marriot around 1:20 p.m. on April 24.

An 18-year-old woman and male minor were arrested around 8:30 p.m. after officers responded to . The woman was arrested on suspicion of burglary  alcohol possession and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, while the minor was arrested on suspicion of burglary and being a minor in possession of alcohol. The woman was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

After leaving a car parked on Cedar Boulevard near Smith Avenue overnight because the car had ran out of gas, a person reported that numerous personal items had been stolen from the vehicle just before 3 p.m. on April 23.

A bicycle was reported stolen from ’s bike locker area around 2:38 p.m. April 23.

A red 1990 Toyota Camry was reported stolen April 23 around 1p.m. from the Motel 6 parking lot. The reporting party said the car was stolen on April 21 and the license plate is 6NOF656.

A woman reported around noon on April 23 that after having allowed several gentleman inside her hotel room at the she found that a handgun had been stolen from her purse on April 13.

Drugs and Alcohol

A 52-year-old man transferred to a local hospital and may be facing a charge of being drunk in public after officers responded to around 2 p.m. on April 25 and learned the man was refusing to check out and determined he was too drunk to care for himself. The man was transported to Washington hospital.

A minor was arrested and then released to his parents after police responded to to a report of finding marijuana in the juvenile’s backpack around 1:25 p.m. on April 24.

A 33-year-old homeless man was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication after officers responded to the homeless encamplment under Highway 84 near railroad tracks around 11 p.m. to a report of a dispute at the camp. The man was booked into Fremont City Jail.

A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance outside of around 9:30 a.m April 23 and was booked into Fremont Jail.

Miscellaneous

A 30-year-old homeless man was arrested on suspicion of trespassing after police responded to to a report of a man lying in the doorway around 2:40 p.m. Friday. Police found the man and recognized him from an earlier incident at where he had been allegedly harassing customers. Police accepted the bartender’s citizen arrest of the man and booked him into Santa Rita Jail.

Traffic Accidents

A 31-year-old Newark man was arrested on suspicion of a reckless driving warrant after officers responded to a minor injury accident on Willow Street and Enterprise Drive around 10:30 p.m. on April 24. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

Police responded to a non-injury accident on Cedar Boulevard at Thornton Avenue that stemmed from a road rage incident around 3 p.m. on April 24.

A motorcyclist was transported to a hospital with a possible broken leg after a traffic collision around 9 p.m. on Salisbury Drive. The motorcyclist had crashed after trying to avoid hitting another car.

Vandalism

A car parked on the 7600 block of Wells Avenue was found vandalized around 6:30 a.m. on April 25. Police said all four tires of the car were slashed and that the incident probably resulted from an argument between neighbors.

A car parked at was reported to be vandalized around 9 a.m. on April 24.

A car was found vandalized around 7:30 a.m. April 23. Police found that the car that was parked on the 37000 block of Oak Street had paint scratched and two punctured tires.
