The following is a summary of significant crime and incidents reported in Newark between Nov. 12 and Nov. 18  as released by the Newark Police Department.

MONDAY, NOV. 12

Homeless Man Found Drunk near Newark Video

A 62-year-old homeless man was found stumbling in the parking lot of Newark Video around 10:30 p.m. He was arrested on suspicion of public drunkenness and booked into Santa Rita Jail.

Two Men Arrested in Separate Domestic Violence Incidents

Two men were arrested on suspicion of domestic violence in two separate incidences between 10 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. The first man, a 48-year-old Newark man, was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and resisting arrest and was booked into Fremont Jail. Around 10:20 p.m., a 35-year-old Newark man was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and battery and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 14

Electronics Taken in Home Burglary

A home on the 36700 block of Olive Street was found burglarized shortly before 7 p.m. in which the suspect(s) entered from a rear bathroom window. Two laptops, an X-Box, iPad and Sony PlayStation were taken from the home.

Man Arrested for DUI After Injury Crash

A 22-year-old Newark man was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI after police responded to a two-vehicle traffic collision in which both parties were injured on Central Avenue and Cedar Boulevard. Police said the man had been drinking alcohol before the collision and he was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail.

THURSDAY, NOV. 15

Motorist Injured After Colliding into Center Divider

A man was hospitalized after he was injured in a solo-vehicle accident around 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Jarvis Avenue and Newark Boulevard. Police said the man, who has a medical issue, drifted and struck the center divider.

Bomb Squad Called After ‘Suspicious Boxes’ Are Found Near Bank

 A bomb squad was called after three "suspicious" boxes were found near Bank of the West Thursday evening, according to Newark police. Officers were first called around 5:15 p.m. when a bank employee discovered the three boxes in the parking lot toward the west side of the bank's building, according to a Newark police statement. Bomb squad officials learned that the boxes contained concrete. Read the full report here.

Driver Hits Three Parked Cars, Cited for DUI

A 48-year-old man was cited on suspicion of drunken driving after police were called to Thornton Avenue to a report of a multiple-vehicle accident around 3 p.m. Police said he struck three vehicles. The man was treated at a local hospital and then cited.

FRIDAY, NOV. 16

Nearly $500 Worth of Merchandise Stolen 

A 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary around 3:15 p.m. after police were called to NewPark Mall to a report of the man stealing items ffrom electronic vending machines at multiple locations with a gift card before the balance was updated with the card issuer. 

Drunken Man Arrested

Police were called to BJ's Restaurant around 11:10 p.m. after it was reported that a disturbance had surface among a group of males and a security guard. The guard proceeded to call police and told officers he had tried to stop the group of males because they appeared to be too drunk to drive. Police found the group and a 28-year-old Union City man was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

SATURDAY, NOV. 17

Home on Crystal Springs Drive Burglarized

A home on Crystal Springs Drive was found ransacked around 10:30 p.m.

SUNDAY, NOV. 18

Driver Arrested After Parking on Wrong Side of Road

A 26-year-old Hayward man was arrested on suspicion of a DUI after police were called to Newark Boulevard and Cedar Boulevard to a report of a vehicle parked the wrong way. 

Trio Arrested For Home Burglary

Two Fremont men, ages 49 and 30, and a 49-year-old woman were arrested after police were called to the 6800 block of Cedar Boulevard to a report of a burglary. Police said a neighbor called officers after seeing the trio enter the home. All three were arrested on suspicion of burglary.
