Assault in Newark Leaves Woman Clinging to Life

The incident occurred at 7155 Mayhews Landing Road just before 8:30 a.m. on Sunday morning. Traffic was blocked between Haley and Colbert streets all morning, but the roadway was reopened several hours later.

Newark police are investigating an assault that left a woman clinging to life.

The attack occurred just before 8:30 this morning at 7155 Mayhews Landing Road, according to an alert issued by the Newark Police Department.

“Upon arrival officers located a female suffering from life threatening injuries,” the press release states.

Alameda County Fire Department rendered first aid to the woman, whose identity was not released. She was then transferred to a local trauma center, officials said.

Meanwhile, officers detained a female inside the home regarding the assault, according to the alert.

Because of the ongoing investigation and heavy police presence, Mayhews Landing Road between Haley and Colbert streets is currently blocked, officials said.
