A man died this morning after a Fremont house party turned violent, according to a Fremont police sergeant.
Posts on Facebook and Twitter are suggesting that the teenager is a student at Newark Memorial High School, but the identity of the victim has not been confirmed.
An official with the Alameda County Coroner's Office said authorities cannot release the victim's name, pending proper identification and confiramation of notifying the victim's family.
Police responded to reports of shots fired and a possible stabbing at 11:19 p.m. Saturday night and found a man profusely bleeding near a house party near Hyde Park and Yellowstone Park drives in Fremont, Fremont Police Sgt. Eric Tang said.
The man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead around 1:20 a.m. this morning, Tang said.
Tang said it was unclear whether the man was shot or stabbed. Several people have been detained in connection with the incident, the sergeant said. However, no arrests have been made as of yet.
Tang said police are also investigating if the stabbing was gang-related. Many of the guests at the party appeared to be teenagers, possibly just out of high school, Tang said.
