It is a huge loss for this district.

This has come as a shock to the whole community. Dr. Marken attracted highly qualified people throughout the bay area and they are here in this district because of him. The school board needs to evaluate whether they can afford to lose quality leaders, especially during this time when so much is at stake. Newark school district children deserve stability not turmoil and drama!

I made a bet when he first took Office that Mr Marken wouldn't go the distance and in fact be out prior to October 1st of this year. Glad to see the chap didn't let me down, LOL. On the upside my Pockets are $120 heavier. I would have bet more, but I don't care for NUSD or it's Drama, and the others in the pool also don't know anything about NUSD. Currently we got a total of 1,391 Bets going from who will resign / quit, to how long a term certain officials serve, and even mundane stuff like how many times citizens use the phrase "lack of accountability" during Newark Council Meetings. This is what happens when your bored. LOL.

We need to do a thorough clean out of our school board. The micromanagement and malicious interventions are part of why our schools have sucked for years. I don't know why anyone thinks that the school district needs to reevaluate its attitudes and behaviors - they know that people will continue to vote for them no matter how bad the schools become.
