Scam alert

Everyone may know this by now, but I'll relate it anyway. Today someone called for my mother claiming to be from the Dept. of the Treasury I said she was not available so he gave me a call back number for his supervisor. I called back told the person who represented himself as a treasury agent I had power of attorney and he told me mom owed $8,000.00 ( such a round number) I preceeded to grill him until he said " so you want me to send the sheriff to arrest your mother" to which I answerd " yes absolutly" at which point he hung up. I called the FTC to report the incident with the ph. numbers and an outline of what transpired and that was it. Be warned these scum bags are preying on seniors , new immigrants and the uninformed. The scam is that the conman states he/she's from an agency like the IRS and you owe money payable now and if you don't pay you will be arrested they want you to purchase a cash card, once you pay you are s.o.l. your money will be gone and you will not get it back. Please always question anybody who calls demanding money and never pay over the phone a legitamite claim against you can and will be negotiated through a process and there is no debtors prison. FYI
