Newark plans to add 45% more population, and traffic

An attendee at the "general plan update meeting" sent me this. Read it and decide if this is how you want to live.

If you love gridlock traffic; a 45% or more increase in Newark's population; overcrowded schools; stack and pack housing you will love the new general plan update that city staff calls a tune-up.  The planning commission held a work session open to the public last night.  There were about ten or twelve members of the public in attendance.  City staff is taking the old general plan and adding gridlock traffic, very high density housing and a lower quality of life.

The city council is holding a work session Oct 10 at city hall.  These are the folks we elected.  If they agree to gridlock traffic and stack and pack high density housing and lowering the quality of life for all residents they need to be told this is not the city we envision.  This is not the future we want for our kids and grandkids.  Newark can do better.  Newark does not deserve to be the overcrowded bedroom community of Silicon Valley.    And yet, this is what the housing element calls for.  The city council needs to stand up to city staff and tell them we want a livable community and not one where traffic gives us heartburn each and every day.

October 10 at 5:30 pm and yes, it is a bad time for people who work but the city council planned it that way.  Do they want you to attend?  No.  The council does not care what you want.  Write to you council members at 37101 Newark Blvd. Newark CA 94560 and tell them we do not want the stuff city staff is trying to push for.  We don't want longer commute time through the city; overcrowded schools; high density housing.  We want a well planned city and not a general plan "tune-up" fraud.
