Newark Is NOT Ghetto, Preserving Newark's Integrity

As I was reading some posts on here and examining the comments, I was shocked with all the profane animosity. Why are some Newark patch members bashing on Newark? If you do not enjoy this town, then don't live here, but certainly don't discourage anyone else who is already living here and don't exploit Newark negatively on its own site. I understand detriments happen and people must be alerted, however, I do not appreciate the small herd of misanthropes that unnecessarily amplify the news, making Newark seem worse than it truly is.

I myself grew up in Newark and I am a proud resident of this small town. It's humble, quiet, lovely, and exclusively beautiful. I take pleasure in biking riding through the old neighborhoods, magnificent coyote hills, and especially the tranquil lake area, all while appreciating the scenery, the quietude, and the genial people. This is what I anticipate for when I open Patch- stories that illuminate the small modest nuances, and the majority that do I extol, but there are also the ones that disregard this politically and egotistically.

These pessimistic posts claiming Newark is "ghetto" is ubiquitous throughout this site, and not surprisingly, from mostly the same people. This is not a place to irreverently complain about what is wrong in this city because no town is perfect and it is the residents that influence the stories, so I would expect that those people would be the ones to try and make a change instead of just expounding statements that are untrue and/or offensive.

I agree that important local news must be regarded, but please conserve some modesty and do not tarnish what is already a sensitive and alarming issue with abhorrent comments. Newark is a beautiful town and I wish to preserve its integrity.
