What are the chances of Newark creating it own local municipal broadband network?

I am tired of this no competition and rates going up and up. Other communities have created there own with success. So much success that the cable providers & wireless networks have banned together across the states to have legislation banned cities from providing services. They want to control and stifle competition.

The Internet is so entrench now in our lives that we have no choice but to subscribe and pay these high prices.

For example, just want Internet only? expect to to pay over $65 from comcast for 25mbs.. that does not include the $8 rental of the cable modem as an example.

I watch TV with an OTA but, still need Internet access.. ARRRRRRHHH!
