I Have OCD, Be Afraid!

This past Thursday a Teenage boy in Albany Oregon was arrested for plotting to carry out a Columbine style massacre at his High School. His plan included homemade Explosives and Napalm with the motivation of Columbine and the goal to be more successful than mass murderers Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold.

Now, his defense for this premeditated act is that he suffers from a RARE form of OCD called PANDAS. Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal infections.

As someone with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder I take great offense to this young man attempting to use MY disorder as a scapegoat to explain the reason why he's such a piece of shit. How about just taking responsibility for the fact you are a monster and deserve to be locked up?

I suspect his defense team will bring up the fact that some moron did a study in the 1970's which concluded that inmates in Prison convicted of violent crimes had OCD.

This same study was used against me prior to my birth as my Mother was due to give birth at an age where children are more likely to be born with health problems including OCD.

I've been a member of the OCD Club for 19 years now, Officially and during this time I've never had the desire to mass murder people.

Now it is true that people with OCD tend to think about doing things which are Ethically or Morally wrong in a just society. For example, Assaulting someone whom torments us, Killing people, and even Sexually abusing children.

Thankfully, I haven't experienced the latter (Yet), but I have thought about ways to kill another human being.

When I was enrolled in Newark Unified School District, I often had flights of fantasy involving my fellow Classmates and Teachers where they were being decapitated or strung up the flag pole by their genitals and being whacked with baseball bats like a pinata.

In my case this was a result of getting targeted by kids who didn't understand my condition and thus mentally and physically attacked me daily because it was funny. Part of having OCD is getting to experience all the unpleasant behaviors associated with it.

I've long been a Germaphobe (Mysophobia) and so other Students would cough on me, sneeze on me, or spit at me, then laugh hysterically while I had a freak out session. At the time these thoughts caused me great concern and worried me to no end.

Thankfully, I had Specialists assigned to me who knew what I was going through and were able to work with me to teach me that this wasn't wrong, just a by-product of my condition. I also knew right from wrong and knew my thoughts were if anything just fantasy.

Despite everything I lived through in my short life I never once wished ill will upon anyone no matter how screwed up they were towards me, because I knew who I was on the inside and whom I aspired to be.

As human beings we all have the choice to go down a path of our choosing and by doing so we fully accept the potential consequences afforded with each decision. If you have OCD and you aren't being treated for it, the road ahead is one that's long and turbulent, however this boy's Mother claims he's been diagnosed prior which means that the Help was available, he just didn't accept it.

This isn't societies fault or even worthy of being a burden on tax payers for the rest of his life. He knew full well what his Condition was all about and yet he chose to do what he's accused of doing.

So how dare he attempt to use OCD as the catalyst for why he is what he is when he knew right from wrong and chose wrong.

I realize that claiming to have a Disability or Disorder in order to get free Gov assistance is the new "in thing" for those schemers who refuse to work for what they have, but all this does is take away from those who need it and give to those who don't.

I never once accepted Gov Assistance even though my Mother tried in vain to get me on the paper, I never budged, not for a moment. I believe as long as I have two Arms and two legs that I am fully capable of earning my own keep regardless if I have my Disability or not. Being this bull headed is a result of being a Taurus.

I am saddened that there are people with OCD out there who have no access to adequate care or even a support system, even if it's just a Shrink. However at the end of the day one needs to reach out and ask for help, and here may be the problem.

OCD isn't to be feared, and anyone who says other wise is a moron!
