America On Verge Of Starting War

Our Government is once again leading our Country astray by creating a potential World War. The major difference this time is that our Enemy has Allies, including a World Super Power, willing to hit us back in Retaliation. This is my view.

First off let me state that I'm not Political and I usually don't care about what our Military does or doesn't do. I'm not a Soldier nor have I been a Warrior in the service of my country. I also intended to post a very lengthy blog here this morning which would have been the equivalent of about 5 pages.

At the end of the day though, I don't need to put up a long essay about the cons or pros of entering war, the need or logic of doing such nor do I have to assert my opinion as our Government will do what it has long done and act first, verify later.

I have been paying close attention to this Syrian Conflict as of late and pondering the various viewpoints on both sides of the Globe. As I sit here listening to the British Lawmakers during a Parliament hearing on this very issue via a Live Stream over the Internet, I must agree that it's unwise to just attack Syria without first going thru the proper channels.

The UN has Inspectors on the ground in Syria who are attempting to determine if Chemical Weapons were used, however even if we verify they were, we still lack hard evidence that the Syrian Government in fact did it.

History shows us that the Assad Regime is Brutal and capable of using Chemical weapons since they have huge stock piles of them. We know the Assad Regime have conducted numerous acts of disgusting behavior over the years and have no doubt they truly are monstrous in nature.

But the fact remains that we need some kind of Physical based evidence which in fact proves that they are the ones responsible. At this point in time, we lack this evidence even though our Government along with Britain andΒ  Israel allege they have such evidence. Still, it hasn't been made Public at this time and thus we MUST act on what we have vs what we don't.

American History shows us that we Americans have long been somewhat of a Bully when it comes to willing our beliefs on others in the world at large. Recent memory such as President Bush in 2003 throwing us into a War with Iraq over alleged Weapons of Mass Destruction which ultimately didn't exist used as a pretext to war and over throwing the Iraq regime.

This time around, President Obama says the International Community has a right to step in and punish the Assad regime in Syria for allegedly using chemical weapons against it's own populace earlier on August 21st 2013.

While the majority of the World Leaders agree that Punishment should be taken against any Country who uses Chemical Warfare on civilians or anyone in general, most demand to see the concrete evidence prior to moving forward which in my opinion isn't a bad idea.

Unlike recent Conflicts we have basically started, this time around the Target Country (Syria) has it's Allies backing it up (Iran & Russia). Just this morning it was confirmed that the Russians have dispatched Warships to the Mediterranean Sea where our Warships have already been positioned for several days.

Obama seems to not understand the concept of attacking first, he thinks he can order our Military to fire Cruise Missiles into Syria and that by doing so the risk of losing American Life is minimized. The fact remains though that despite how the President views such a Strike taking place, it's a declaration of War!

When we Attack, they along with their allies will react by attacking us in turn and our allies. Tit for Tat. Next thing you know this goes from being a "simple mission" to becoming a wider Conflict, perhaps even a World War.

Maybe going thru the UN is a waste of time, but isn't it better to have all the Facts verified prior to committing to what may well turn into a bigger conflict?

Lastly I just want to state that I think the International Community should take action against the Assad Regime for it's actions, once proven. However I don't agree that we should be jumping right into the fray and acting as World Police.

But again, the Government will do what it chooses to do and we as Americans will pay the piper as a whole for the actions of a few. I don't know for certain what will transpire over the next days to weeks but I can say that I will be glued to the Internet and enjoying beverages / junk food while I watch a Lesson unfold and History ultimately win.
