Video: Relay for Life Celebrates Cancer Survivors

Tri-City residents shared their experiences living with cancer at a Relay for Life event held in Newark.

Cancer survivors from the Tri-Cities gathered at a celebration hosted by Relay for Life on Wednesday. The event honored those who have survived cancer as well as the family members and friends who care for them throughout their treatment.

Participants listened to a survivor's story, shared their own experiences with each other and enjoyed food and activities.

Relay for Life is an annual event where teams walk or run a track or path for 24-hours as a way to celebrate survivors and commemorate the lives of those who lost their battle with cancer.

The relay events are held during the summer, with the first one held in Fremont. Here are the following dates:

  • Fremont, June 30 - July 1, 10 a.m., California School for the Deaf
  • Newark, August 11 - 12, 10 a.m., Newark Memorial High School
  • Union City, August 25-26, 10 a.m., James Logan High School
