The Newark Police Department is collecting bicycle helmets for needy children this holiday season. The department will be accepting new, unwrapped helmets in child, youth and teen sizes. State law requires a child under 18 years old to wear a helmet while riding a bicycle. Donations can be dropped off at the Police Department at 37101 Newark Blvd.
