The ARC lifeguard training course provides the participant the opportunity to get certified as a lifeguard. Prerequisite for the course:
Be able to swim 300 yards with freestyle and breaststroke
Tread water with legs only for 2 minutes
Swim 20 yards and Retrieve a 10lb brick under water in 1 minute 40 seconds
Training will include rescue skills, CPR/AED, First Aid
This course will run 4 consecutive days 12/27-12/30. Dry land instruction will be held at Silliman on 12/27 and 12/29 and Water instruction will be held on 12/28 and 12/30 at Calphin Aquatics 34075 Fremont Blvd.
Cost for the course is $185 residents of Newark or $194 non-residents. Register at the Silliman center or online at www.newark.org
This class will give you the ability to obtain a job as a lifeguard.
