Week in Review: Women Employed in Newark Killed in Mass Shooting; Threatening Graffiti Found at NMHS

While Monday’s at a Christian university that killed seven people occurred approximately 20 miles away, it quickly became clear that three people who were present at the school were deeply connected to Newark. Among the seven who were killed were Union City resident , 23, and Hayward resident , 21. worked in Newark. It later surfaced that one of the survivors of the violent attack lives in Newark. Police and school officials are not happy about graffiti that surfaced throughout this week. While some of the graffiti depicted happy faces, one message that read “I WILL KILL EVERYONE HERE” was perceived as a possible threat. In other school news, community members expressed content after the t Board of Education voted , resulting in saving a number of programs and positions, including for all grades. The move also means the College and Career Center will remain open and calls for the reinstatement of an elective program at Newark Junior High School.

A man after being arrested while leaving a Newark home has been arrested on suspicion of another murder, authorities said Robert Joseph Yim, 21, was among six men arrested and charged on suspicion of fatally shooting 14-year-old Vernon Eddins, who was slain in front of Barnard-White Middle School on Dec. 21, 2007 for the benefit of a street gang, according to Inside Bay Area. for more information.
