Week in Review: Police Issue Warning After Home Burglary, Pot Club Re-Opens

Exactly one week after state and local authorities raided a medical marijuana dispensary in Newark, the co-founder of the collective re-opened the pot club, according to a report from ABC 7.  Happy Wellness Center Co-Founder Justin Hammer he chose to re-open the center on Wednesday because the collective feels it has done nothing illegal. to read the full report.

A local college athlete who has been successful at Newark Memorial High School shared his experiences as a soccer player on a report that was published on Friday. Alfredo Navarro, who now studies at Chabot Community College, was the highest goal scorer with his soccer team at Chabot and was an All American nominee at the California Community College Athletic Association Coast Conference. A gang-related shooting that injured a 25-year-old Newark man on Dec. 16 remained as one of the top read stories on Newark Patch this week. Police have continued investigating the incident and served a search warrant that resulted in the closure of Olive Street on Dec. 17 in order to collect more evidence in the investigation of the Dec. 16 shooting.
