Week in Review: Newark Student Killed; Five Teens Arrested After School Fight

Newark residents have been grieving the death of a Newark student this week after it was learned that Newark Memorial High School senior Osana Futi died one week ago of apparent stab wounds. , 18, drew in hundreds who as loving and devoted. The community has started holding to raise funds for his funeral services, which have yet to be formalized.

A Fremont man charged with the murder of slain Newark student Osana Futi has yet to enter a plea after two court appearances this week. Abraham Ibrahim Hade, 18, was arrested Sunday and faces clause. along with three minors who police described as a 13-year-old male, a 14-year-old male and a 16-year-old female. The three teenagers are facing charges of being an accessory to the murder, authorities said.

Five female teenagers were arrested after police officers responded to to a report of a fight, police said. The Argus reported that Superintendent Dave Marken said the fight stemmed from a conflict the girls, who were between the ages of 15 and 16, had over a boy and that all five have been suspended. As a result of a vote made by city council members on April 26, city staff can now seek professional services to help compose a vision for Newark's commercial region near NewPark Mall. The city has begun (RFPs) from firms interested in consulting with the city on how to develop a Greater NewPark Master Plan, which will help build a proposal on how to make the region into more of a central retail hub for south Alameda County.

A long-time Palo Alto resident has won the Wetland Community Leader of the Year Award from the Environmental Law Institute for her work with the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Florence LaRiviere began organizing concerned citizens to establish the first urban wildlife refuge in the country in 1972 and will receive the at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. on May 10.

The things I might buy for my classroom would be totally different than you. Running a classroom is a lot like running a business, there are expenses and you just have to deal with that.
