Week in Review: Man Killed in Hit-And-Run, Teenager Arrested in Home Burglary, Fremont Mayor Dead At 77

A 56-year-old homeless man was killed after two vehicles struck him Monday night on Ardenwood Boulevard in Fremont north of Highway 84 near Newark. The man was identified as Ralph Huerta. Fremont police are still looking for those who were involved in the fatal hit-and-run. to read the full report.

Newark police were also busy this week with an investigation of a home burglary that occurred Wednesday night off Ash Street. One 15-year-old boy was arrested after the home’s owners returned home to find him and another person inside of their home, police said. Police are continuing the investigation in order to identify and detain the three suspects who got away. Read more .

The former Shaker’s Pizza in Newark has . The announcement came to Newark Patch readers Friday morning, and the owners of the pizzeria said they hope the new name gives the eatery an identity separate from the Shaker’s Pizza restaurant in Fremont.
