Week in Review: Blood Drive For Baby Living With Cancer, Missing Nursing Student's Remains Found

A Newark couple announced they will be hosting a blood driveto celebrate their daughter’s first birthday. was diagnosed with congenital glioblastoma multiforme, a type of brain tumor, when she was two months old. Since then, she has had numerous surgeries and blood transfusions. Her parents said they hope the blood drive is a way they can give back to the community.

Hayward police night that the human remains discovered near Pleasanton are those of nursing student Michelle Le.  during a search on Sept. 17 organized by Le’s family. The Le family is hosting a to honor Michelle Le on Sept. 27 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Samuel Merritt University’s Oakland campus.

Petersen Dean Roofing and Solar Systems launched a campaign this week to help out Newark CERT. Through the “” campaign, Petersen Dean will donate up to $1,000 to a charitable or non-profit organization when you purchase a roof or solar system through the company. The company also said it hopes to expand the campaign and offer the fundraising efforts to other community organizations.
