Video: PG&E Contractors Begin Pre-Construction

PG&E plans to start test of natural gas pipeline in Newark on May 31

PG&E consultants have started pre-construction work at two locations in Newark as part of the utility company's plans to test a natural gas pipeline that stretches from Cedar Boulevard to Cardiff Street.

Road signs show that lane closures will be in effect periodically through June 24. At Chapman Avenue, about half a block is closed for the project.

PG&E will use water under high pressure to test the safety of a one-mile segment of the pipeline. Testing is scheduled to begin May 31.
