Battalion Chief Rich Dickinson said the mother was in a crosswalk at Fremont and Peralta boulevards with two children. She was pushing one child in a stroller and a 5-year-old was walking with them when they were hit, he said.

The mother was taken to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley and the child in the stroller was taken to Children's Hospital in Oakland. Both had head injuries, he said.
