Here are five things you need to know in and around Newark through July 15.

  1. It’s another week of themed fun at the Silliman Activity and Family Aquatic Center. This week’s theme is Charity Week. Come to the aquatic center between the hours of 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. for recreation swim and see what’s in store for Charity Week, too.
  2. The Newark Soccer Club is currently . Come by Love at First Slice in Newark between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday to learn more about registering. Cost is $150 and the season begins on Aug. 25.  
  3. If you’ve been needing to schedule a health check up, take advantage of the Washington On Wheels Mobile Health Clinic (W.O.W.)’s that will offer health care services to uninsured and low-income residents at the between 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Thursday.
  4. Come see the story of a bond between a princess and a soldier come to life in Stage 1 Theatre’s Aida. The show opens on Friday at 9 p.m. and tickets are $22. for more details and performance times.
  5. This weekend, Newark’s Chamber of Commerce and the City of Newark Recycles will host the . The two-day festival will feature live music, food and play areas for children from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at NewPark Mall.
