This Week: Free Job Fairs, School Board Meeting, Support Groups for Domestic Violence Victims

Here are five things you need to know in and around Newark through April 8.

  1. Help with the planning and fundraising of Newark’s Relay for Life Event by joining the event organizers’ . The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at Love At First Slice. Relay for Life is an overnight relay-style event in which teams raise money for the American Cancer Society.
  2. Assemblywoman Mary Hayashi’s Office will hold a free job fair this Tuesday. Job seekers are invited to attend from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Chabot Community College, Building 2500. for more information about the event and learn how to register.
  3. The starting at 7 p.m. at the district office, 5715 Musick Ave. Among the items to be reviewed are job descriptions for three positions and a review of the district’s Local Educational Agency (LEA) plan. Click here to download the full agenda.
  4. Alameda County Office of Education will also hold a job fair this week. Idividuals seeking a career in education are invited to attend the county-wide job fair that will be held from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 313 W. Winton Ave. in Hayward. for more details on what to bring.
  5. Women who have experienced domestic abuse and women who know others who have are invited to attend Fremont-based SAVE’s free drop-in support group. The weekly meetings are held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 9:15 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Fridays. for more information.
