This Week: Family Game Friday; NMHS Presents 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'

A list of events going on in Newark this week.

Heads up! Here are five things going on this week that you should know about:

  • Seniors looking to revamp their homes are invited to attend the Minor Home Repair Workshop that will be held at the Newark Senior Center, 7401 Enterprise Dr. The workshop will be hosted by the Alameda County Community Development Agency and will be held at 10 am. on Tuesday.   • Exercise your right to vote on Tuesday. Registered voters will head to the polls to choose whether to re-elect President Barack Obama or to elect Republican nominee Mitt Romney. But voters will also be asked to vote on local races, measures and state propositions. For more information about those races and measures, click here.
  • Want to learn more about Medicare? The Newark Library will be holding a presentation about Medicare that will inform attendees about the program’s coverage and option. The event will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday and is free to the public. No reservations are needed. For more information, click here, email bedwards@aclibrary.org or call 510-795-2627.   • Come celebrate International Gaming Day on Friday. The Newark Library will hold a Family Gaming Friday event beginning at 3 p.m. and those who attend can play fun board games, solve puzzles and play video games until 5 p.m. Refreshments and raffle prizes will also be available.   • It may be fall, but at Newark Memorial High School A Midsummer Night’s Dream will open Friday. The show, which is a musical written by William Shakespeare and set in the 1940s , will begin at 7 p.m. There will be an opening night celebration, too. The NMHS Drama Boosters will host an Opening Night Dinner from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and dinner will be hosted by Dino’s Grill. Click here for more information and cost.
