This Week: City Leaders Volunteer to Deliver Meals, Officer to be Honored, Crab Feed for NMHS Sports

Here are five things you need to know in and around Newark through March 25.

  1. The Tuesday at 7 p.m. and among the items that will be discussed are budget assumptions for the 2012-13 school year and a resolution that calls for a change to high school graduation requirements. Click here to download the full agenda. The board meets at the district office, 5715 Musick Ave.
  2. City leaders of the Tri-Cities will band together Wednesday as part of the LIFE ElderCare 2012 Mayors for Meals Day. Mayor Al Nagy and Councilwoman Sucy Collazo will be amont the attendees and will dedicate their morning to delivering meals to seniors throughout Newark, Fremont and Union City.
  3. will bring in numerous food trucks and live music to NewPark Mall this Wednesday. Make sure to check out what you can eat for dinner between 4:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. near the Sears entrance.
  4. Officer Randy Ramos of the Newark Police Department will be honored this Thursday for his actions completed after a federal agent was shot on Mayhews Landing Road in February. Ramos will be given the Distinguished Service Medal during Thursday’s , which begins at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall, 37101 Newark Blvd.
  5. Been craving for crab but want to have your money go toward helping your community at the same time? Attend Saturday’s and enjoy a crab feast for $40. Proceeds go toward the Newark Memorial Athletics Department. The event begins at 6 p.m. at the Newark Pavilion, 6430 Thornton Ave. for more information.
