Prepare for Zombie Invasion, Other Emergencies

Centers for Disease Control releases guideline on how to prepare for a zombie attack and real emergencies

So the world is supposed to end. An earthquake? Maybe. But if you think it might be from a Zombie Apocalypse, the Centers for Disease Control has released an extensive guide on how to prepare for the invasion of the dead.

The guideline was written and posted as a blog by Assistant Surgeon General Ali Khan.

"You may laugh now, but when it happens you’ll be happy you read this, and hey, maybe you’ll even learn a thing or two about how to prepare for a real emergency," he wrote.

The emergency plan urges people to identify the types of emergencies in your area, pick a meeting place to regroup, identify emergency contacts and plan an evacuation route.

"When zombies are hungry they won’t stop until they get food (i.e., brains), which means you need to get out of town fast!" Khan wrote.

The guide also outlines the types of items one must gather in an emergency kit.

A zombie campaign was created out of a brainstorming session on how to get people interested in CDC's annual campaign on emergency preparedness, according to the Los Angeles Times. The idea of zombies came from the popularity of the idea of a zombie attack stemming from radiation emissions, the report noted.
