Update: Power Restored to All Homes In Newark

PG&E reports 480 customers in Newark lost electricity late this morning. Cause was the failure of a circuit breaker at a substation.

Power has been restored to all the homes in Newark that lost electricity earlier today.

Nearly 500 PG&E customers in Newark lost their electrical power late this morning, according to utility officials.

By 4 p.m., power had been restored to all but about 100 customers. The rest were back on line by 5 p.m.

PG&E officials said the cause of the outage was the failure of a circuit breaker at a substation.

The areas originally affected are along Moores Avenue between Cherry Street and Interstate 880 as well as Birch Street near Central Avenue.

There are also customers affected along Central Avenue between Birch Street and Glenmoor Drive as well as the area near Glenmoor and Mattes Drive.
