New CEO at Red Cross Northern California Blood Services Region

Officials say the new CEO steps in at a critical time for the blood supply.

Jeff Meyer has been selected as the new CEO for the American Red Cross Northern California Blood Services Region.

A press release issued Monday said Meyer has been with the Red Cross in key management positions since 2001, most recently serving as the senior director of finance and planning for the Western Division, which comprises blood regions in Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington.

“I look forward to working with the community and with the hundreds of dedicated American Red Cross volunteers and employees who help to ensure an adequate blood supply in Northern California every day,” Meyer said.

The organization noted that this is a critical time for blood supplies. The Red Cross has just ended a national appeal for blood donors after harsh winter storms throughout the East, Midwest and South forced the cancellation of more than 850 blood drives since January.
